Joan Miró – World Trade Center Tapestry
1980 was the year I left communist Cuba for a life of freedom in this great country. The picture was taken by fellow artist, Ernesto Briel a renown geometric Cuban artist, my partner, which died in 1992, in New York.
Visiting the towers together for the first time was a major part of an ongoing celebration of a new promising life.
In addition to a personal matter on my bahalf: years before, in 1977, I was awarded First Prize, for my artistic tapestries by the National Museum of Decoratve Arts of Havana, Cuba, and this visit was my first encounter with the ultra-famous Joan Miro‘ tapestry.
