My Brother and I

That picture is of me and my brother, taken by my mother’s mother, who lives in Washington Heights. My mother grew up in NYC and always talked about growing up along with the construction of the Twin Towers.

I remember going up the big elevator and how there were ice cream carts on the observation level, with ice cream at highly inflated prices. From then on, I thought of overly expensive food as at „Twin Towers prices“.

I also recall how I figured you would be able to just jump off of the Tower and that it would be scary to see what was below, but where you could jump would just get you to a roof a couple of floors down. And also seeing the huge antenna on the other tower.

On September 11, 2001, I was working with my uncle in Queens. That’s a different story and I’m not sure if it’s what you’re looking for.
